This suggestion might probably see more of a chance to be realised in GW2.

I never got quite around it why some see breasts as a valid alternative for a more realistic male musculation.

Hmm, I'm not sure. The body type builds at the moment are realistic to the types of exercise they do in relation to their fighting style...

A warrior uses his upper body a lot, thus he is overly muscular; and the female warriors have the broad-shouldered female equivalent...Assassins would be chosen for the profession due to their diminutive body size, and all the other characters have relatively normal bodies...

I mean think about it. How could you have a skinny warrior when that sword probably weighs more than the average human being, and how can you have fat anything if all these characters do is run? They're fighters. You don't even get into the army if your'e overweight...With the amount of exercise these characters do I think it would be ridiculous being able to make a fat one. Just because some of the actual players don't do any exercise, doesnt' mean their characters have to suffer for it appearance wise...

I do agree with extra character customization though, but not necessarily with weight.

More customisation would be nice but this might be a step too far.

Short, plump Female Ele with a beard – no thanks

(Although my Ele female could do with plumping her legs up a bit – maybe move some down from her breasts, there’re large enough).

We can already freely choose what our character looks like - hair, skin, face/eyes, and height. I don't know how hard this would be, but it would give the game a little more variety and uniqueness between players. Maybe something for Guild Wars 2 of course.

thread revival FTW!

absolutely, 1 BAZILLION % /signed!!!!!!

this is what drives me to play an assassin who plays as a warrior because i HATE the big fat headed male toons! sure he's a bit squishy but it's fun darn it!

i just don't see why it would be so hard to merge all of the appearance options. not only the ugly body types but faces, skin tone, etc., based on what campaigns you have. since i happen to be one of those completely obsessed by all of my toon's appearances. i make new characters frequently, cuz i get bored, and i'm always faced with the dilemma of "do i go NF for the face i like, or Factions for the hair i like". sorry, but it sucks that the majority of hairdos in NF are either afros or braids >_>

Default /signed with a few ideas toss in.

one way of doing it is, don't seperate the body type into professions.

instead have 2 body types male and female, for all races, and they are non class specific. This 2 body type is height / weight adjustable. you mold as usual fit hair skin tattoo, accessories, makeup, facial hair, horns, how the character will appear sickly, fragile, flirtatious, healthy, sneaky, evil, wise, old, young, etc.

The next step will lock your characters ability to change its clothing, the profession for this character, the armor will gets fix from then on. ie, character will only be able to wear the profession the players chooses.

however, please keep open the option of changing the accessories, hair style, hair color, skin color etc except weight, height, armor and the appearance (the sickly/fragile part).

There's no point in bringing realism into the discussion when we have characters running around in snow and ice bare-footed and in armors which barely cover their intimate areas. This is purely character outlook customization, and I'd say more variety is always good - so yes from me.

Ditto for my monk.

/signed, even though this suggestion is really more appropriate for GW2. If GW2 has the same amount of character customization as GW1 has, I'm going to be a little disappointed.

i would like to see being able to actually choose the eyes I want instead of a face with eyes that don't look too bad.. example *faction mesmer face where the female looks stoned*

pick a set of eyes, pick the face, hairstyle*, hair colour*, height* and body type ..

Woul love this, but dont really care. My ranger & monk have rather unique faces, only seen 2 other monks w/ my face, and 1 other ranger, so the uniqueness isnt a factor for me.

/signed but id rather have a hair dresser...

Its too late for gw1. Maybe for gw2.

Hate to be a critic, but it would be unfair for oldbies that have had a character a long time.

Agreed.

It's lost it's relevance and has become a "hopefully" in GW2 thread.

Customization options are all good though, if well done.
